Artist: PATRICK TJUNGURRAYI

Cat#: PGPT021

Size: 107X91

Medium: Painting

Patrick – who is the younger brother of Brandy Tjungurrayi – was born circa 1940 in the Western Desert near Jupiter Well in Western Australia. He has been recognised as one of the Top 50 of the Most Collectable Artists by “Art Collector” Magazine in 2005..
This painting is one of his great works in a medium size that compares extremely well with his many larger scale paintings.
This painting depicts designs associated with work of the Tingari men who camped at Ngarru, an important site west of Jupiter Well during the Dreamtime.
A Possum and Western Quoll ancestors ancestors passed through the same site.
The zig-zag motifs represent their tracks as well as the water designs painted on the mens’ bodies for ceremonial purposes, and the concentric squares represent the rockholes at the site.
