OCHRES ON ARCHES PAPER
Painted in the classic Kunwinjku ‘X-Ray’ style this painting of Kalawan – the goanna uses traditional ochres painted with single line work as opposed to cross-hatched “rarking”. Expressed by Don in his unique way this gives a comparatively understated but powerful expression to the painting.
The Kalawan have been a traditional food source for the Kunwinjku people for millennia and is a chicken like meat that is highly prized.
Don’s paintings are very collectible.
